MAS news on cadet pilots intake
June 22nd, 2006 | by Dusk |
Many people ask regarding fresh cadet pilot intakes by MAS. Yesterday, on my way up to the simulator i saw a whole bunch of fresh intakes waiting for their turn for the psychomotor at MAS Complex B. You can recognize them by their visitor pass. Well, im not sure whether they were waiting for the MISPA or the psychomotor test. About 4pm.
Later, after my sim session, I asked one of the engineers at the lobby and he told me they were there for their psychomotor test. He also told me that many failed the psychomotor on that day. Only 3 passed he added. Im not sure how many were there maybe 20, maybe 10.
Another source told me that the Human Resource of MAS will still be taking cadets until 2011 because of some contract they made. So even in the current situation, MAS will still accept new cadets. I dont guarantee anything though. Anyway its still good news for those who are interested to become a cadet pilot. For those waiting for their result, good luck man.
I still see people doing psychomotor, so they must still be taking cadets. Next post will be on how to apply for MAS cadet pilot and what to expect if you were called. Stay tuned. Hehe

hi, I was called for a psychomotor test at 2sd floor of simulator A.
What do I have to bring? except Spm cert( real or photostat version?)
By Dusk on Jun 26, 2006 | Reply
Owh you can just bring the original. I dont think they will need to keep it.Even if they need it. Theres a copy machine there. When is your psychomotor? Btw they have a new psychomotor machine/computer/programme. Or else ill totally tell u all the answers. Hehe.

It’s tomorrow morning. and Your tips is helpful too.
By Dusk on Jun 26, 2006 | Reply
Okay, good luck. Can u share your expirience here later? Ill put up some link or you could just email me at dusk@flydamnit.com. I want to know about the new psychomotor. Thanks in advance. And all the best
By nivlac on Jul 3, 2006 | Reply
Basically, its the same as you mentioned. Just the puzzle part it changed to upper part shows colors, and left hand side shows patterns.
Hmm.. can you post some tips and condition about phsychometric test?
By Dusk on Jul 3, 2006 | Reply
I created the “Download” section on the right sidebar. There’s a file about psychometric test. Its an example of the real test. Check it out. Thanks for reminding me to upload the file. =)
During the test, remember to check the time. Normally people run out of time. Don’t read back the question once you answered them. Mark it first. If u finished the paper, then you can go back the earlier questions and attempt to answer them.
Good luck. I hope u find the file useful
By nivlac on Jul 4, 2006 | Reply
haha.I have that file already, however thank you for your effort!! One question, did you manage to finish all the question, some say its normal not to finish all of them since it’s designed so, to make people nervous.
Among numerical reasoning, verbal reason rasoning, IQ test…etc ( include others which i dont know) which part is harder, and what need to careful with?
Is there any atitude test? I afraid I couldnt pass it, since if our personality isnt match their taste, we are out, like someone said in LYN forum.
By Dusk on Jul 4, 2006 | Reply
I didnt finish some of them. Like the IQ test and personality test. I didnt do the last 2 questions form the IQ test but im very sure i did the rest correct without mistakes.
And i left out a major part of the the personality test. It has 200 questions, i think i did until 180 or less (the second time).
The purpose of this is because they want their pilot to be have some quality. I dont really remember but i studied about it in training school.
Ill try looking it up for u. For your information, i failed the personality test in 2003. The result says that im too extreme. I didnt mark any “arts” category at all and was really one sided answering it. I didnt really care about becoming a pilot at this time.
The next year when i took it again.. I marked “arts” and things i didnt mark before. Answer without thinking too much. Then i passed it.
By Dusk on Jul 4, 2006 | Reply
I cant find the book. Anyway heres an example,
Leadership
They want pilots to have leadership quality. At some level. If your leadership level is TOO high, its not good. Imagine 2 pilots with very high leadership marks. Both want to have control and wont listen to each other.
So they want a right amount of leadership.
Another example is confidence.
You want the pilot to be confident but not over-confident until he overlooks small details.
They have a small diagram about the personality test. I cant remember it.
By nivlac on Jul 4, 2006 | Reply
The first time you answered the personality test by analysis what type of personality a pilot should have, then you choose the answer?
And the second time you didnt think much and just do it,(of course like you said, be more neutral to all aspect) then you passed it… is that what you mean?
By Dusk on Jul 4, 2006 | Reply
Umm im not sure about neutrally. But what im trying to say is, answer honestly.
The personality test is the fourth test on that day. The question is like the one you downloaded. then u have to choose answers like
Question: I am the sort of person who..:
A. speak my mind
B. Follow others
C. wants to win no matter what
D. win when it really matters
Something like that. So it will determine your personality through 200 question. (i know u know about this, but this is the actual options i can recall). Just want to remind u that it can be very tricky.
They give the same option so many times. Sometimes when u feel the other one is stronger to u. Just pick the other one. The first time i took the test, i picked the same option over and over again. So i got my result “too extreme”.
So my advice would me answer honestly. You might answer the thing before but when given a stronger option that relates to you, pick that.

about the spm result i have no idea..but during my interview session there was a person with arts degree,yes..u can wear ur spectacles as along they can be corrected to 6/6..but if i’m not mistaken..it must be at least 6/60 without spectacles….currently i just passed my medical check up…just waitin for the offer letter..i dont know whether the offer letter will come or not …the thing is…the selection process can be very long..it has been 1 year from my psychomotor test to the intake, which i heard from HR, will be on oct or nov 2007…gudluck for those who are applying for the cadet pilot position…
By ridzuan on Aug 10, 2007 | Reply
for the psychomotor….for the preparation…buy a joystick n play a flight simulator(just to get used of it)….n tetris maybe..

hi ridzuan.i went 4 my 1st psychimotor test in may bt i failed.i realy wan 2 bcome a pilot.can u giv me a few tips so dat i can pass my nex psychomotor test?it is scheduled at d begining of nex year i guess.i realy found d coordination n d last manuevaring test hard.hope u can help me in sum way cos i realy need help.
By ridzuan on Aug 13, 2007 | Reply
hye kumar..sorry to hear that, but good, you’re very determined to be a pilot, about the psychomotor test, yes its true..both of them r the culprits in the test but that’s d only way dey can test ur hand and eye coordination ok. erm..early next year?? you have a lot of time to prepare ,so, dont waste it.before i went to the test,i prepared myself not much but..enough i think,i bought a joystick..buy a fighter pilot game..learn how to use joystick n the senstivity of a joystick..if you have flight simulator, than it wil be better because..you can create a flight..you can set the weather that will give u turbulance while u are playing(real wind until ur cessna will be uncontrolable)…during the tubulance..try to control ur airplane by only looking at the vertical horizontal..which is the same with the coordination test..you also can take the student pilot virtual test in f.simulator..
it has the same loop like the maneuvering test……
by learn how to control the joystick n its sensitivity it will be easier 4 the final test…for the other test try to imagine the test again n find a technic how to make it fast..like the colour n shape..i always look for the colour 1st be4 the shape.for the men in diff position..i “bedal” but make sure you listen carefully n intprt the words faster…
i hope this can help
ok
all the best..

Why leave for MAS when ure in SIA? anyway check out the forum theres one SIA FO there. He is a member of our forum.
Try posting on the forum some of the guys might be able to help. Im not sure if its possible or not.
as for mr.Z, MAS requires SPM result. not sure about uni result. its always a bonus having a degree or something
