About MAS Psychomotor Test

It was after SPM when i send in my MAS application for a cadet pilot. That was around 2002. I was really lazy and all. But somehow i was forced to send my resume and everything. Haha. So eventually i did. After a few months i got a reply and i was called by MAS for a psychomotor test. I took this test in 2003 so It might be different if u take it in 2004. I did both years. Btw, the whole selection process is divided into 4 category:
- Psychomotor
- Psychometric
-English
-Maths
-IQ question
-Crazy 200 question personality test - Interview
- Medical Checkup

Ofcouse the 2004 session of psychometric is better. New computers and expansive logitech joysticks. Hehe. Damn the Atari joystick used in 2003. The 1st pic below is what the 2003 test looks like. Its like a MS-DOS programme. Its MUCH harder then the 2004 ones because u have to use the foot thing which is under the table. Its not like a plane rudder. Its more like a sideway skateboard.The joystick only moves sideways. The up and down movement is controlled by the leg thingy.
TEST 1 is to get the red ball in the center. The hard part it is, when u move your leg up, the ball moves down! And vice versa. When your joystick moves left, the ball moves right. Press green to go to next page. Yeah. That thing on the table is not even a keyboard. The trick is… not to think anything. Just move the ball.
Don’t try to think ‘ok if I move my hand left.. the ball will move right. Owh ball just moved right. Hand! Move left. Left I said!.’
Well that works for me. I don’t remember the rest of the test. Haha.
The 2004 psychomotor place much better compared to the 2003 one. It doesn’t have the crappy leg thing. The joystick does all the work. It has a keyboard too. Its much easier because u don’t have to worry about your leg position. I got a 8/10, 9/10 and 10/10 for this test. The layout might be different but the idea of the test is the same.
TEST 2 is kinda tricky. It’s a man with shapes on his hand. There will be question will have 3 men and will sound something like How many is holding a square on the right hand? And you have to a number. Or something like that.
TEST 3: I don’t remember this one well. And I have no picture of it. You have to match some puzzle pieces to the original place.
TEST 4 You have to match the shape and color for this one. It might sound easy but there’s some time limit each round. And the pictures will be rotating and shifting so quickly you might ‘miss’ some. The score is based on how many you hit and miss\. The picture shows is an example. The correct box to hit in this condition is the box marked yellow. Its red (from the color column) and a square (from the shape row below). Instructions on what to hit might differ from this guide.
TEST 5 requires you to ‘fly’ through the window as you move forward. You cant control you forward movement. The joystick lets you move Up, Down, Left, Right only. Remember, move slowly. DO NOT be aggressive on this one. Apply minimum pressure to the joystick, you really don’t want to over-control it. Its hard to get back to your original momentum. I hate this one. Really messed up this one. I got 5/10 the first try. Maybe 8/10 he 3rd try. I don’t remember.
I took me 2 mins to draw this last one. Gimme some credit. Owh, next I will write about the Psychometric test. No more drawings there i promise. Haha

DAMNIT! I lost all my bookmarks when I reformatted my PC. I had a really good link to the program that some airlines used to do physcomotor tests, which is exactly like the one you’re describing now…

I think most people got through this test. So u dont have to worry too much. Just try to imagine the TEST 2 and TEST 4. That will be the trickiest. As for TEST 5, move the joystick gently. No sudden movement because the joystick is really really sensative.

Hi, i sat for my psychomotor today and i’m very proud to say that i passed it! Hooray! Oh yeah, ur site has helped me a lot in passing this test. U have 2 follow da instruction wad da computer is saying..
they are playin wif ur direction..

I would like to ask if the psychomotor test for helicopter pilots are the same as the fixed wing pilots. I’ll be taking the test soon. It’ll only be one try so I would appreciate if someone could help me out with this. I heard that the system is from Australia as well.

for da candidates who will facing psychomotor test;=)

it is not compulsary for you to follow but if you wanna score a very high marks then you must put down your EGO under your feet!,haha..
i had done the psychomotor test and passed it, they will call me by 3 weeks..so,i will tell ye how the process..
there are 5 test in the psychomotor test;
1st and 5th tests,they are the simulator test N 2nd,3rd n 4th tests, (sharpness test,IQ test,concentration test)
So, for the 1st test,,i ENJOY driving by joystick,,!hehe.
it will use the joystic to aim the cross to the centre N YET, IT IS DAMN TOUGH!!
but then my tips is,all of ye mustn’t panic, just pull the joystic not so hard ( there are sensitive but their reaction are very late( i mean you pull it now,the cross will go about 1.5 second later) it really means that you are driving HUGE plane!! physics concept)..
for 2nd,3rd n 4th tests,they are more about IQ,sharpness N cncntrtion..
2nd test,pics test, i quite love da Q.. they ye 3 pics with a man each pic,they van be upright,upside down,holding circle or square in either right or left hand, THEN the DISASTER is there are POSITIVE N NEGATIVE statements!!my sggstion is THINK THAT TE MAN IS YOU!!
3rd is searching a shApe in either right or left OR none of them,, quite easy..my sggstn is FOCUS!!
4th, i like it very much,,colour matching!! its TOUGH but if u hve strategies, it is completely insane if ye doesn’t pass it!haha,, my sggstion is LOOK AT THE COLOUR 1ST!!
the 5th, simulator once again, this da best part for me to try,,haha.. ye must use da joystic and gring the nose of the plane( actually the plane) to cross the square..my sggstion is for this test,DONT YOU EVER THINK THAT IT IS JUST LIKE DRIVING CARS OR ‘ AIRFORCE PLANE ‘!!HAHA..
