Notes

  • Please read the game manual carefully before playing.
  • The Nintendo DS Lite consoles available on JAL flights are specially manufactured without wireless capabilities.
  • The use of wireless devices on airplanes is prohibited. Passengers are asked to turn off all wireless capabilities for Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite consoles they bring with them while onboard the airplane.
  • The Civil Aviation Law prohibits the use of these consoles during takeoff and landing. Flight attendants will collect distributed Nintendo DS Lite consoles and earphones during takeoff and landing.
  • The number of consoles on each plane is limited, and one may not be available upon request. The service is also limited to one console per passenger. We ask for your understanding in this matter.
  • Please direct any questions to your flight attendant.

Doesn’t this make u feel like traveling in JAL? Haha. This is great advertising solution for Nintendo especially when Sony PSP is hot now.

Btw, notice the “The Civil Aviation Law prohibits the use of these consoles during takeoff and landing”. This is to prevent instrument fluctuation during the most critical phases of the flight- the takeoff and landing. Even with the wireless feature thrown out, it might produce magnetic field that will disturb the instruments.

It’s a great way to kill time during long flight hours. MAS has some old Nintendo installed in the First Class and Business Class (maybe) too. We have crappy games like Mario world, Mario 3, Yoshii Island, Tank, Boxing, some racing game, Megaman and others. I don’t really remember. I used to play Mario and Megaman A LOT last time when travelling. Haha. I remember writing down the passwords. So that i can continue with the password on the way back home.

I dont know whats installed now though. Haven’t been in the 747 for a while..

The last few times I flew the LHR - KUL route, all the 747s’ had Linux installed, which allowed for all the “on demand” stuff to run.

And since it was already running linux (mandrake, if anyone was interested), it had a whole bunch of linux games on it as well. If you’ve ever had linux OS installed, you’ll know what games to expect.

Pretty decent. The in-flight entertainment system did the job very well. And this is a 13 hour flight mind you. I suspect if I was flying for a shorter duration, I’d be slightly dissapointed that didn’t get to watch/listen/play everything.
